March of Dimes

""
We are doing the March of Dimes walk this year for our best friends little guy Nico who was a 27 week premie, now is a healthy 2 year old and one of Emily's favorite persons.  The Monges are involved in this because they want to help fight for the lives of other premies like Nico and help stop prematurity.  We are so excited to be apart of this charity run with our friends.  We are hoping to raise a hundred or more each for Andy and I.  So let me know if you can donate to a great cause that is close to our hearts.

The End of Sleeping In

I have been blessed with kids that love sleep.  From the time Emily came until now my kids have been late sleepers.  Even when Will was a newborn.  They go to bed early, around 7:30 or 8 and wake up about the same time the next morning.  So all these years when I am not working, I too sleep until 7:30 or 8.  I know, every mom's dream when their kids are this age.

This month I am going to change all that.  Sigh...  I don't really know why I keep coming up with all these crazy goals for myself, but I do.  This month, I have decided, I am going to set my alarm.  Ugh, that's like foul language at my house.  But I am planning on waking up before the kids and getting in a good workout every morning, whether it is at home or getting out for an early morning run.  I am excited to see how I feel at the end of the month.  Maybe its almost time for another half marathon?

Five on Friday

1.  What a week.  It has been awesome to be off with Andy all week long.  But since the kids are sick, we weren't able to do something fun like we usually would.  He did however make a trip down to Long Beach to send Kelly off to Denmark!  What a fun trip she will have.  We were lucky to catch her on Skype this morning.

2.  We signed up for the March of Dimes walk this week and are planning on running the 5 miles.  It is April 17, 2010 in Bakersfield at Liberty Park.  We are excited to be apart of the walk this year.  Last year I was there but could not walk because I was still pregnant with Will.

3.  So far this week we have run a total on 6 miles.  We were so happy to get back out to running.  Sometime during the marathon we became runners and truelly enjoy our time out running.  I think the attitude change in us also improved our running also.  We are so happy to be teaching our kids by example that an active life is great.

4. We got to have a great dinner with the Boyer family last night.  It was so nice to be able to spend time with them.  Their new baby will come in about 8 weeks and I cant wait to have another little girl around to shop for.

5.  Today we had Payton over for a little bit, we finger painted and palyed with books and toys.  He is such a sweet and quiet little boy.  Andy's dad is here for a visit also.  Emily is always so happy to have people here playing with her.

Marathon

Since July we have been planning to run a marathon.  It sounded like a good idea, 3 weeks after I had Will.  Once I fully healed and started running it sounded like a crazy idea.  It was!  For months I ran around the neighborhood with a double joggin stroller hauling my 2 impatient and mostly screaming kids.  Never did they have the patience for more than 3 miles, which at my slow pace was about thirty minutes.  Last Sunday we managed to get out to Huntington Beach for the Surf City marathon and ran, 13.1 miles, crossing the finish line in 3 hours 25 minutes.  I still to this day dont know how my body managed to make it.  Now, a week later we are looking forward to another in September.  Now I know Im crazy.  I hate running yet I love marathons!

Training

Today is only 9 days away from our first half marathon.  Am I ready?  No!  But is anyone really ready to try to run 13 miles?!  My only goal is to finish this one.  That I know I can do!  I am so excited to do something I know I will forever be proud of!

The New Year

As a family we have so many goal for the new year.  2010 will bring us great things if we can attain all our goals.  Some of which are to be out of debt, save for a house, loose weight and finish a half marathon.  The first of which will be the marathon, to be done Feb 7.  Andy and I have individual goals too of course.  I hope to loose another 10 pounds he hopes to get a promotion.  This year will bring great things for our family.  In 2010 Will will turn 1, Emily will turn 3 and will start preschool.  It will be a great year as far as I can tell, and Im excited.  Welcome 2010, this is OUR year!
