Beauty and the Beast DVD party!

We are huge Disney fans in this household.  We have been anticipating the release of Beauty and the Beast with excitement.  We love themed parties in our house, and with the release of the movie, I thought we should throw a DVD party.  So tonight we had our first DVD party with the kids.
We made these adorable Mrs. Potts cake pops with a tutorial from Bakerella which you can find here.  This was a huge hit with the kids and the moms.  Everyone loved them!

We had castle and crown sandwiches, apples, and popcorn during the movie.  The kids loved the movie.  They were scared a little, but loved it.

It all ended with the sweetest "Tale as old as time" inspired dance party.  The kids twirled around holding hands, giggling and smiling.

We are planning a once a month movie party, complete with themed deserts.  Next month: Polar Express, at of course- the Polar Express.  We will be heading to Arizona for the train ride in November with all our good friends to kick off the holiday season.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for so many things.  First I am thankful for the health of my kids.  As we battled the stomach flu for the last week I am happy for their renewed health and energy.  I am thankful for every bite of food they eat for every smile on their face.

I am thankful for my husband who loves me more than anything but loves our kids a close second.  He is a true family man and I love him for being there for us all the time.  I am thankful for his love of cooking because my love of cooking is not quite there.  He is my perfect match.

I am thankful for my friends who have taught me so much about parenting and friendship.  They are amazing and I am thankful everyday because they are here to walk beside me on the path of motherhood.  They inspire me to be more creative, push me to be more driven, and are always encouraging.  They love my kids like their own as I love theirs like my own.

I am thankful for our parents, who love my kids and spoil them like great grandparents do.  I could not ask for better people to love my children.

What are you thankful for?

Five on Friday

1.  This week has been full of growing for my little boy.  He started some crawling earlier this week and started pulling himself to standing.  Im afraid he's going to be a big boy soon and I will be without a baby.  That is so sad.  But He wants so badly to keep up with all the other kids, it will be nice to see him play with them soon.

2.  Andy took his captains test this week!  So we will see in the next few weeks how he did.  It will be a great promotion for him and he is looking forward to it.

3.  Tonight we had a great dinner with friends to celebrate Andy not having to study anymore.  It was so nice to have our favorite families over at our house.  The Crites, the Monges and the Boyers!  The kids had so much fun and stayed up late.  Im so glad to have such great friends.

4.  Emily is having her friend Alyssa over to spend the night tonight.  Its the first time she has a friend here, and Alyssa's first sleep over!  We are so excited to have her here.  They are being so good, they were so tired from all the excitement and fell asleep right away.  I can't wait till the morning when they wake up together!  Alyssa loves Emily.  She is
already 4 and thinks Emily is a little sister.  Emily is lucky to have such a sweet girl around!

5.  Andy is off for a few days so we are going to be having fun the next few days haning out with our friends.  Im so excited for the weekend!

Adventures in the Wild

We had quite a little outing today with our great friends Erin and her daughter Isabelle.  We spent all morning at The Wild, a fun center for kids.  Emily and Isabelle had so much fun running all over, going down slides, jumping in the bounce houses and just being together.  Emily and Isabelle have grown up always together as best friends since the day they were born.  Their friendship is so sweet and loving, yet as most girls do, they fight like sisters.
Will had fun also.  We are looking forward to getting him a playmate too, but for right now he is quite content with our attention!  He is so loved by everyone that meets him.  He is such a lucky little boy!

Five on Friday

1. This week was full of doctors visits, fevers and medicine. Our poor sweeb babies have had a rough week. Emily had an ear infection and turned out to be allergic to her antibiotic. We are still struggling with the hives. Will has bronchiolitis and possibly a problem with asthma. He has been getting his breathing treatments and it has been helping a lot.

2. We had a great night with the Monges this week. We were all pretty stressed this week with sick kids so some time relaxing with friends was much needed.

3. Andy is, thankfully, only a few days away from his captains test. He has been studying so hard to prep for this, it will be nice to have him back again. Hopefully he does a great job.

4. We are visiting in Orange County today. We spent the evening at my parents with the whole family. It was so great to see everyone. Tomorrow we are going to our niece Maggie's baptism. She is 2 weeks older than Will. Andy gets the honor of being Godfather.

5. Emily is having her first sleepover tonight in the other room with her cousin Elyse. They are having fun talking and giggling. I hope they fall asleep sometime tonight.

That is the sum up of this week. I hope next week I will have more exciting things to talk about. I hope to get some runs in next week. We only have 7 weeks for our march of dimes walk and we are going to run the five miles. I am really starting to crave getting out and running.

My mommy friends...

This week my family went through a mini crisis. I realized that with all that happens in your life as a parent it is so essential to have some supportive mommy friends near. I have some pretty awesome mommy friends that were so amazing this week.

The first is my "been there" mommy friend. She is awesome to have around because she knows it all through experience. She is there for me to run to when I have silly questions and doesn't make me feel ridiculous for asking. My "been there" mommy friend is patient with me and 100% supportive, she loves my kids like she loves her own.

Another mommy friend I have is the "makes it look easy" mommy. She makes me want to work harder to be a perfect mom. She teaches me how to teach my kids. She manages more in a day than I can hope to. Kids love her because she can be silly and not be embarrassed. She is always prepared to have fun.

My "learn as I go" mommy friend is great too because she asks questions that makes me think about what I do and why. She is relaxed about her parenting and it works.

My other mommy friend that is essential is my own mommy. There is nothing like calling my mom to figure out what to do when I’m overwhelmed or confused. She has done it all and I trust her judgment.

Without these women in my life I don’t know how I would get through week like this one. Whenever I have a crisis in my life I know I will be okay because I have some great support from some amazing women. I love each of you!
